Welcome to HotelGuide.Networks' directory of hotels and hotel reviews for Boise, Idaho!
First established by Lewis and Clark's negotiations with the Indians, Boise was named by French-Canadian fur traders after their word for woods and later cultivated as a fur trading center by the Hudson Bay Company in the 1830s. Boise -- between the Boise National Forest and the Columbia Plateau -- became known as the City of Trees in 1863 during the gold rush, and remains an oasis of shaded tranquility. Boise boasts one-of-a-kind museums and urban parks, a river flowing though the heart of the city and a 25-mile river front greenbelt. Among attractions are the Basque Museum and Cultural Center, Morrison-Knudsen Nature Center, Idaho Anne Frank Human Rights Memorial, Idaho Black History Museum and the World Center for Birds of Prey. Southwest Idaho's easily accessible outdoors beckon with nearby mountains, desert sand dunes, canyons and whitewater rafting rivers. During the 1930s, a wave of Basque immigrants from the Pyrenees attracted by the burgeoning sheepherding industry provided an additional rich and colorful component to area cuisine and culture. Boise has more than 4,600 rooms in nearly 60 properties, ranging from bed and breakfast hospitality and family owned motels to large luxury complexes with suites and convention facilities.
